What we handle

Wage garnishment: get your whole paycheck back

A garnishment lets a creditor take part of every check before you see it. Filing bankruptcy stops it, and your employer gets notice to stop taking money. Sometimes we can also recover what was taken in the 90 days before filing.

We can usually file within days when the garnishment is what's hurting most.

With us, it includes

  • A filing timed to your next paycheck

  • Notice to your employer to stop

  • A claim for money taken in the last 90 days

  • Calls to the creditor's lawyer

Good to know

What to bring

  • Your last pay stubs

We need two months of them, with the garnishment showing.

  • The court papers

The notice your employer received, if you have a copy.

  • A list of what you owe

Rough is fine. We'll fill in the rest from your credit report.

Questions about wage garnishment

Will my employer know why?

They'll know a garnishment stopped. Employers can't fire you for filing bankruptcy.

Can a garnishment start again?

Not for debts the bankruptcy clears. If it does, call us and we'll deal with the creditor.

Is it only for wages?

No. Filing also stops most bank account freezes and tax refund seizures by creditors.
