What we handle

Foreclosure: time to keep the house

A foreclosure notice starts a clock. Filing bankruptcy before the sheriff's sale stops it, and gives you room to catch up through a Chapter 13 plan or to sell on your own terms.

Bring the notice to your first meeting. The date on it decides what we do first.

With us, it includes

  • A read of your notice and your dates

  • A filing before the sale, when that's the answer

  • Talks with your lender about a loan change

  • A plan to catch up on missed payments

Good to know

Your options, plainly

  • Catch up

A Chapter 13 plan spreads what you're behind over up to five years.

  • Change the loan

Some lenders will lower the payment or add missed payments to the end of the loan.

  • Sell on your terms

If keeping the house won't work, a sale you control can save the equity you've built.

Questions about foreclosure

Is it too late?

Not until the sale. And sometimes not even then: call us the day you get the notice, or the day you find it.

Will I owe money after a sale?

Sometimes a lender can come after a shortfall. Bankruptcy can usually clear it.

Do I need to leave the house now?

No. You can stay until a court says otherwise, and we'll tell you how long that is in your case.
